Im Westfl\u00fcgel waren urspr\u00fcnglich die erzbisch\u00f6flichen Prunk-, Staats- und Wohngem\u00e4cher sowie die Bibliothek des F\u00fcrsten untergebracht. Karl Friedrich Schinkel (1781 \u2013 1841) brachte 1828 ein Projekt zum Ausbau der Moritzburg f\u00fcr die Universit\u00e4t vor, das jedoch aus Kostengr\u00fcnden abgelehnt wurde. Stattdessen wurde das Hauptgeb\u00e4ude auf dem Universit\u00e4tsplatz verwirklicht (p Kat. 15).<br \/>\nAnl\u00e4sslich des 200-j\u00e4hrigen Bestehens der Universit\u00e4t wurden 1894 in den Kreuz- und Tonnengew\u00f6lben der Ruine an der Nordseite eine Turnhalle und ein Fechtsaal eingerichtet, die bis<br \/>\n1990 f\u00fcr den studentischen Sportunterricht genutzt wurden.<br \/>\nDas St\u00e4dtische Museum f\u00fcr Kunst und Kunstgewerbe \u2013 heute \u201eKunstmuseum Moritzburg Halle (Saale)\u201c \u2013 er\u00f6ffnete 1904 hier einen zweiten Standort. Im Zuge dessen wurde im S\u00fcdfl\u00fcgel<br \/>\ndas Thalamt des Salzgrafen rekonstruiert.<br \/>\nBereits 1921 wurde die gesamte Kunstsammlung in die Moritzburg verlegt und ausgestellt.<br \/>\nDie Ausstellungsr\u00e4ume im Nord- und Westfl\u00fcgel wurden 2005 \u2013 2008 aufwendig durch das spanische Architekturb\u00fcro Nieto Sobejano umgebaut und erweitert.
