Obwohl Halle nie Bistumssitz war, hat sich der Name &#8222;Dom zu Halle&#8220; eingepr\u00e4gt. Er wurde 1523 als Stiftskirche des Magdeburger Erzbistums geweiht. Im Stil der Sp\u00e4tgotik \/ Fr\u00fchrenaissance erbaut, ziert ihn der italienisch gepr\u00e4gte umlaufende Giebelkranz. Da er auf einer ehemaligen Dominikanerkirche beruht, fehlen ihm Turm und Querhaus. Das in diesem Jahr gefeierte 750-j\u00e4hrige Domjubil\u00e4um geht auf die Grundsteinlegung des Dominikanerklosters zur\u00fcck (1271), an dessen Stelle der Hallenser Dom steht.
