Es sind die letzten beiden historischen Wohnh\u00e4user der Dominikanerstra\u00dfe, die die Nachkriegszeit \u00fcberlebt haben. Der Stra\u00dfenzug fiel von 1977 bis 1987 dem Abrissbagger<br \/>\nzum Opfer.<\/p>\n<p>Das Eckhaus mit seinen auff\u00e4lligen F\u00e4cherrosetten wurde um 1540 im Renaissancestil erbaut. Hier lebte der Schriftsteller und Journalist Bert Brennecke. Seine Freunde nannten ihn auch Monke. 1898 geboren, zog er als Jugendlicher zu<br \/>\nTante Clara in die Dominikanerstra\u00dfe. In den \u201eMonke-Geschichten\u201c erz\u00e4hlt sein Sohn auf am\u00fcsante Weise aus dem Leben von Bert Brennecke.<\/p>\n<p>Nicht zu \u00fcbersehen ist auf dem Foto die Katharinenkirche. 1224 unter Bischof Friedrich II. gegr\u00fcndet, erhielten die Dominikanerm\u00f6nche dieses Grundst\u00fcck und eine Kapelle als Schenkung. 1231 waren die erste Kirche und das Kloster fertiggestellt. W\u00e4hrend der Pest 1565 kamen fast alle M\u00f6nche ums Leben, und das Kloster verfiel, bis es 1628 wieder besetzt wurde. Nach der S\u00e4kularisation 1810 als Kleiderkammer und Arreststation der hiesigen Garnison genutzt, kaufte 1910 die katholische KatharinenGemeinde die H\u00e4user vom Staat zur\u00fcck. Seither stehen die Geb\u00e4ude den Karmelitinnen f\u00fcr ihre Arbeit mit Kindern zur Verf\u00fcgung. Die bis heute erhaltene gotische Katharinenkirche stammt aus dem 14.
