Sein Erscheinungsbild pr\u00e4sentiert einmalig die gesamte deutsche Architekturgeschichte mit dem gotischen Dom, der romanischen Liebfrauenkirche, umgebenden Renaissance- und Barockbauten \u2013 wie die Bischofsresidenz \u2013 und historisierenden Bauten des 19. Jahrhunderts. Der steile Abfall nach Nordwesten zeigt heute noch den Charakter einer Burganlage. Die Domburg wurde im Laufe der Jahrhunderte mehrmals erweitert. Sie war das kirchliche Zentrum Halberstadts und des gesamten Bistums.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"fontstyle0\"><br \/>\nEhrf\u00fcrchtig f\u00e4llt der Blick auf den Dom. Er gilt bis heute als \u201edas reinste deutsche Beispiel einer durch und durch verstandenen Gotik\u201d. Die gesamte Bauzeit betrug etwa 250 Jahre. W\u00e4hrend des 13. Jahrhunderts wich die Neigung zur Schwermut. Die Freude an Licht, Leben und Bewegung lie\u00df die Kirche hoch, hell und ger\u00e4umig werden. Zu dieser Zeit entwarfen die Baumeister den Bauplan, der f\u00fcr die gesamte Folgezeit ma\u00dfgeblich bleiben sollte.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"fontstyle0\"><br \/>\nRechts hinten im Bild erkennt man die Dompropstei. Der Bau, den Bischof Heinrich Julius 1592 bis 1611 errichtete, hat in seiner \u00e4u\u00dferen Gestalt die Zeit bis zur Gegenwart \u00fcberdauert. Charakteristisch f\u00fcr die Dompropstei sind ihre Kolonnaden, die das weit herausragende Obergeschoss tragen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"fontstyle0\"><br \/>\nDas imposante ehemalige Postgeb\u00e4ude (am rechten Bildrand mit gelber Fassade) entstand Ende des 19.
