Am westlichen Ende der Stra\u00dfe stand einst das Johannestor als Teil der Stadtmauer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"fontstyle0\"><br \/>\nSchon im mittelalterlichen Halberstadt existierten hier zahlreiche Schank- und Gastwirtschaften, da die Stra\u00dfe auf dem Haupthandelsweg in Richtung Magdeburg lag.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"fontstyle0\"><br \/>\nIm Mittelpunkt des Bildes steht ein 1557 gebautes Ackerb\u00fcrgerhaus mit Durchfahrt, Westendorf Nummer 9. Der zweist\u00f6ckige Bau mit hohem Dachstuhl im typischen nieders\u00e4chsischen Fachwerkstil zieht den Betrachter sofort in seinen<br \/>\nBann. Hier f\u00fchrte Herrmann Bosse ab 1888 eine \u201eKolonialwaren- und Cigarrenhandlung\u201c, die nach seinem Tod von seiner Witwe Lydia Bosse weitergef\u00fchrt wurde. Wenige Jahre sp\u00e4ter, ab 1905, lud der Gastwirt Paul Bosse G\u00e4ste in die zur Gaststube umgenutzten R\u00e4ume ein.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"fontstyle0\"><br \/>\nAuch nach Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs wurde die Schankwirtschaft weitergef\u00fchrt. In den 1980er Jahren war eine solche als die \u201eWeltkugel\u201c bekannt. Jedoch war das Geb\u00e4ude Westendorf 9 f\u00fcr den Erhalt nicht vorgesehen und verfiel nach und nach.
